Venturers Trust schools are celebrating after scoring a hat-trick of success at the Bristol Education Awards.
The success follows a national honour for another Trust staff member at the prestigious TES Awards in London.
Jackie Burton from Venturers’ Academy was named Primary Teaching Assistant of the Year and her colleague, Catherine Connor, won the SEN Teacher of the Year title at the Bristol Post Education Awards.
Along with fellow staff members and Venturers’ Academy Principal Trystan Williams, Jackie and Catherine attended the red-carpet event at The Bristol Hotel.
The Trust was also victorious in the Education and Business Award, which went to team ph7, a group of Year 12 students from Colston’s Girls’ School (CGS), for their work with GWR, interviewing train passengers on the Severn Beach line about their dream job as part of a project on gender stereotyping and career prospects.
The judges commented on the “impressive collaboration which is not only helping them both (GWR and CGS), but also the wider community”.
Earlier in June, Emma Buckley, teacher at Venturers’ Academy, was shortlisted for the New Teacher of the Year award by TES. Emma was delighted to attend tea at the House of Commons as well as the awards ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.
Chair of Governors for Venturers Trust, Trevor Smallwood, said: “It is wonderful to see the hard work and dedication of our teachers recognised on a regional and national stage. Congratulations to all!”
