Mark’s professional interests were in engineering at first, and then latterly within the IT managed services sector, where he grew his company to be the market leader in both the UK and Central Europe.
Following the successful sale of his business, he directed his activities within the charitable and volunteering sector. Initially these efforts were focussed on the Children's Hospice South West and Prostate Cancer, where he has raised significant funds.
Mark is a trustee and active member of Deki, a Bristol-based charity that helps disadvantaged adults in West Africa to develop life skills in parallel with real-world training opportunities. By providing individuals with the necessary experience, qualifications and financial support to start their own business, the longer-term benefit is that whole communities become self-sustaining. These projects have proved so successful that Deki now also funds projects to provide clean water, healthcare services and essentials such as clean renewable solar lamps to some of the poorest areas of West Africa.
He is also passionate about education and serves as a Governor at Collegiate School and as Chair of Governors at the Downs School.
Mark lives in Bristol with his wife and two children.
