Marti is a partner at a national law firm. Her particular areas of specialism are company and business sales and purchases as well as providing companies with all the contracts they need to structure or run their businesses.

Marti is the chair of the Black South West Network, a black and asian led organisation delivering race equality work through undertaking robust research with the ambition to have a society where inequality and discrimination on the basis of racial or ethnic categorisation is wholly and completely absent. Marti is also a trustee at Bristol Music Trust which runs Bristol Beacon and delivers quality music education across the region. Marti has recently been appointed as one of the three International Ambassadors for the city and is a director of a family business.

“I feel passionate about helping to improve equality and inclusion for people from all backgrounds, and I support organisations that share these values such as Black South West Network, the Bristol Legacy Foundation, 91 Ways, the International Board and the Bristol Music Trust.

“I joined SMV’s Membership, Search Group and Communications Committees during my first year with SMV and I find it particularly rewarding to be part of the Search Group. Identifying prospective new members has highlighted how many fascinating people live in the region who are already working so fiercely to improve the health of communities.

“I’ve also witnessed a real determination to diversify the membership and I’m enjoying playing my part in ensuring SMV’s future by onboarding new members from a range of professions and backgrounds in my role as Chair of the Search Group.

“I’m also a member of the Standing Committee, which is similar to a board of directors, and whose members are ultimately accountable for SMV’s strategy and actions. Across the breadth of SMV’s activities, there are 15 committees and sub-committees that meet regularly to develop and implement our strategic aims. All of these committees report to Standing Committee, which has 15 members who are elected by the wider membership.”
