Margot is the Global General Counsel for Arup. Arup is a multinational professional services firm headquartered in London which provides design, engineering, architecture, planning, and advisory services across every aspect of the built environment. Margot works out of Bristol and London, heading up the global legal team. She is an officer to the board and chairs the Risk Committee and is passionate about shaping a better world in a sustainable way.
Margot has worked in the south west region since 2004. She previously worked for Osborne Clarke, then moved in-house to work with Hyder PLC and later becoming a partner in Arcadis LLP before moving to Buro Happold as the Global Director for Risk, Commercial and Legal.
Margot strives to address the equality, diversity, and inclusion agendas – both inside and outside of work. She was previously Vice Chair of Governors at St Mary Redcliffe Primary School, a role she enjoyed doing for five years. Between 2019 and 2023 Margot was a Board director and Chair of the Legal and Commercial forum of the Association of Consultancy and Engineering, a business association representing the interests of professional consultancies and engineering companies (small and large) operating within the built and natural environment. Margot has been a business board member of the West of England Combined Authority Local Enterprise Partnership since 2019.
Margot grew up in London and graduated with a law degree from University College London (UCL), before undertaking her postgraduate Legal Practice Course in Bristol. Margot lives in Bristol with her husband and two sons, likes to keep active by running and enjoys singing.
