Ross Ancell

Ross’ charitable interests include the Churngold Environmental Fund and the St Monica Trust where he is a member of the charity’s Council and chairs the Finance and Development Committee.

For SMV, Ross is a previous chair of governors for Merchants' Academy and he was instrumental in creating the Bradbury Centre, a specialist autism training facility, within the Venturers' Academy site. He is also Past Master of SMV, 2019/20.

In his professional career, Ross was the chair and majority shareholder of Bristol-based groundworks and civils specialist Churngold Construction, a sizable local employer. He led the company between 1996 and 2024, and retains investments in the construction and property arms.

Previous to this Ross spent 15 years with George Wimpey plc, including five years as Managing Director of Wimpey Minerals.

Ross is a New Zealander and was educated at the University of Waikato, graduating in Business Administration; and he is a Fellow of the Institute of Accountants - Australia and New Zealand.
