Sue is currently Managing Director of a lighting distributor business in Wellingborough, whilst continuing her responsibilities as a charity trustee and on the board of the holding company for her family’s businesses.

Her previous roles have been very varied. She started working for her father’s electrical wholesaling business straight out of University and then, as that business was sold and the family business diversified, moved into lighting retail, Bed & Breakfast hotels and lately farming and forestry.

Educated at Clifton High School, growing up in Henleaze and then moving to Old Sodbury, Sue has never moved far from Bristol and now lives in Bath.

She has been a trustee of Denman Charitable Trust for over 20 years, but latterly took on trustee roles for BRACE, an Alzheimer’s research charity, and until recently was Chair of the Finance and Investment Committee at Quartet Community Foundation. She also chaired the Quartet Funding the Future project that directed Lottery and Fundholder funds to Community Anchor Projects in Bristol just before and during the Covid Pandemic.

She studied International Business at French at Aston University in Birmingham and speaks fluent business French, which is handy as the family still manage a business in Lille that sell electrical goods to DIY stores.

In her free time, she loves to sail and ski with her husband Dave and two grown up children Toby and Issy. She also loves to spend time tending her garden.
