Tim qualified as a solicitor, working in the City of London and as a company legal adviser, before attending London Business School and moving into general management. He has considerable experience of the construction, building materials, waste management, environmental and related sectors.

Tim was previously Chairman or a Main Board Director of a number of public companies, including George Wimpey and was an active director or investor in many private or venture capital-backed companies.

He is the current President of St Monica Trust and director of Bristol & Bath Regional Capital CIC. He is a past Chair of Governors at Clifton College and Colston's School and has spent periods as a Trustee of Quartet Community Foundation, Governor of Bristol University and President of the Dolphin and Gloucestershire Societies. Tim was Master of the Society of Merchant Venturers in 2015/16.
