I joined the John Lewis & Partners Bristol in 1982 as an A-Level trainee. After several retail roles, I was appointed General Manager in the Bristol store, and continued in this position following its relocation to Cribbs Causeway. I was promoted to Managing Director of John Lewis & Partners Cribbs Causeway in 2000 and two years later became Personnel Director for John Lewis & Partners, sitting on the Partnership's board until 2020.

My other appointments include Chair of the John Lewis Partnership Golden Jubilee Trust, and Non-Executive Director of Morgan Sindall Group plc and Chair of their Remuneration Committee and a member of their Nominations and Audit Committees. I am also a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel, and of Be the Business, a not-for-profit that supports SME's to improve business performance.

In addition to these commitments, I am a governor of Merchants' Academy school, a member of the Venturers Trust HR Committee, and a trustee of Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.
