Trevor Smallwood comes from a bus family in South Yorkshire. He was state educated in South Yorkshire and, after completing his A levels, became a management trainee at the local bus company.
Trevor came to Bristol in the 1970’s and operated the City Services when they were jointly owned by the City Council and National Bus Company. He returned in 1983 and led the management employee purchase and development of Badgerline until his retirement from FirstGroup in 1999. He was awarded an OBE for services to public transport in 1994.
Since his retirement, he has been committed to supporting various areas in the voluntary sector, including Quartet Community Foundation and the St Monica Trust. Trevor has also been involved in education for the past 20 years.
He has been a Deputy Lieutenant of Somerset since 2004 and served as Master of the Merchant Venturers in 2008/09.
Trevor is married with four children and still enjoys participating in sport and watching his childhood football team of Rotherham United.
