Sharing new experiences and making memories together is top of the agenda for the wonderful (and award winning!) Wellbeing Team at Katherine & Griffiths House. Their latest news round-up proves that you’re never too old to have fun!
Around the World Cruise Project
As part of our round-the-world project, this month residents and staff enjoyed a virtual journey to sunny Spain, exploring the vibrant traditions, music and flavours every step of the way. We decorated our home with Spanish flags and the kitchen team went above and beyond once again, preparing a spectacular three-course Spanish feast for everyone to enjoy.
A talented Flamenco dancer and a team of professional musicians from the group Flamenco Loco gave a passionate and energetic performance, inspiring our residents to dance along. We’re excited to learn where the cruise will take us next…..
Trip to Bristol Aquarium
Our residents thoroughly enjoyed exploring the underwater world at Bristol Aquarium. We were fascinated to watch a dramatic feeding session in an open top tank!
Burns Night
We heard all about the life and poetry of Robert Burns while James played the bagpipes and Lauren from Flourish Dance hosted a Scottish-themed movement and dance session.
Visit from Local Nursery
We love welcoming children into our home, and our residents were thrilled to meet the energetic members of a local nursery group. The afternoon was filled with laughter and play. Making intergenerational connections is rewarding for everyone.
RSPB Bird Watch Week
Our residents enjoyed making fat balls for the garden birds to keep them healthy, especially during the colder weather. We’ve all loved watching the birds come to feast on these, along with a few mischievous squirrels!
Valentines’ Day
All residents were pleasantly surprised with a chocolate and a card on Valentines’ morning, then we gathered together to listen to professional harpist and singer, Lizzie Hart. Lizzie brought along a few miniature harps so that our residents could try it out for themselves.
University of Bristol Music Society
We were treated to a wonderful performance by the talented musicians from the University of Bristol Music Society. The uplifting music varied from pop to classical, performed on the piano, cello, guitar and clarinet.
Chinese New Year
Following a delicious Chinese-themed lunch, we made colourful Chinese lanterns to welcome in the Chinese New Year – the year of the snake. We also explored our own zodiac animals and how they reflect our personality traits.
