Katherine & Griffiths House in Westbury-on-Trym has been awarded the Health & Safety Gold Award by Peninsula, recognising its continued commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety and wellbeing for both residents and staff.
The home, which provides care for 41 residents, along with a specialist dementia unit supporting a further eight residents, is part of the Cote Charity, whose trustee is the Society of Merchant Venturers (SMV).
This latest recognition follows a remarkable year for the team, including being named ‘National Care Home Team of the Year’ at the Great British Care Awards.
Receiving the Health & Safety Gold Award reflects the dedication of the entire team in creating a safe, supportive and well-managed environment. It also recognises the robust health and safety systems in place, a proactive approach to risk management, and a strong culture of care and responsibility that underpins daily life at the home.
Sue Thorne, Deputy Manager at Katherine & Griffiths House, said: “Achieving the Gold Certificate is a moment of great pride for us. The safety and wellbeing of our residents is always our top priority and achieving this recognition demonstrates that we not only meet required standards, but we consistently strive to go above and beyond. Safety goes beyond processes and paperwork; really it’s about protecting people.
“Training is an important factor, giving our team the confidence, knowledge and skills to work safely, support one another and ensure a secure and comfortable environment for residents and staff alike.”
Caroline Duckworth DL, CEO for SMV, added: “We are incredibly proud of the team for this achievement and grateful for their continued hard work and commitment to providing the highest standard of care for all residents.”
